Bikes Belong in running for $250,000 Chase Community Grant
September 11, 2012
The Bikes Belong Foundation is up for a $250,000 Chase Community Giving Grant. After a few days of voting, we are ranked 14th, just 500 votes outside of the top ten. If we win the grant, it will go to help PeopleForBikes.org reach its goal of one million people (we are at 600,000 supporters now) and to the Green Lane Project, our new campaign to fast-track the installation of protected bike lanes in U.S. cities.
Here’s how you can help us win this $250,000 grant:
1. Go to the Chase Community Giving app on Facebook, enter Bikes Belong on Search Charities, then click Vote. (You can earn an extra vote by sharing through Facebook, Twitter, or emailing the link—if someone clicks on your link and votes, you get an extra vote.)
2. Go to www.chasegiving.com, click on Vote Now, search for Bikes Belong, and then click Vote. (You must be a Chase customer to vote at this website.)
You can vote both ways, giving Bikes Belong double the votes. Voting ends September 19, so act now! With all of the important causes out there, wouldn't it be great to see bicycling recognized as one of them?
How can I share this with my friends?
You can forward the links (www.Chasegiving.com or www.facebook.com/ChaseCommunityGiving) and ask them to vote for Bikes Belong Foundation. You can like Chase Community Giving on Facebook. You can tweet about it, too
What will Bikes Belong spend the money on?
Our plan is to split the grant between PeopleForBikes.org, our citizens campaign to gather a million signatures in support of better bicycling across the U.S., and the Green Lane Project, an initiative to help cities build cost-effective, safe, and stress-free bikeways that get people of all ages riding. More information about these programs is available on their websites, www.peopleforbikes.org and www.greenlaneproject.org.
When does voting end?
At midnight, Eastern Time, on September 19, 2012
When will you know if you won?
Chase says they will announce recipients on or about September 20, 2012
What if you don't win the top prize?
The top 196 vote-getters will still receive cash awards starting at $10,000, so please vote so we can get funding to support bicycling!
