Four New Senators Endorse Bicycle Commuters Benefits Act

June 12, 2006

Bikes Belong continues to push for Congressional support of the Bicycle Commuters Benefits Act (S. 2635), which would encourage bicycle commuting by allowing employers to reimburse bike commuters $40–$100 per month tax-free. Senators Norm Coleman (R-Minnesota), Richard Durbin (D-Illinois), Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), and Robert Menendez (D-New Jersey) have recently signed on as co-sponsors of the bill. Bikes Belong’s government affairs director Gary Sjoquist is in Washington, D.C., this week to meet with U.S. Senators and staff members and ask them to support the bill.
