Boulder Bike Month

June 21, 2009

As the city of Boulder, Colorado, prepares to build its 75th bike/pedestrian underpass and break ground on the innovative Valmont Bike Park dirt playground, I participated in two high-profile events during the City of Boulder's annual Bike Month.

First, I joined Boulder mayor Matt Appelbaum and other community leaders at a Beyond Bike Paths Platinum Celebration, where he talked about the city's long tradition of bike facility innovations that led to its recognition as one of three Platinum Bicycle-Friendly cities in the United States. Then, I competed in a Boulder Celebrity Commuting Challenge where teams used a variety of modes of transportation to visit nine locations around the city. I rode a bike...and my team posted the fastest cumulative time.
