May 30, 2005
The all-important federal transportation bill, which includes hundreds of millions of dollars in crucial support for bicycling programs, passed the U.S. Senate on May 17. On May 27, members of the conference committee—the group of U.S. representatives and senators charged with reconciling the two different versions of the bill—were selected. Their goal is to complete this work by the end of June and send their compromise version to President Bush for his signature.
