Interbike and Giant Leaders Join Bikes Belong Board
November 16, 2007
Lance Camisasca has been Interbike’s group show director for the last decade. In 2008, he will shift into a key consulting role, guiding Interbike’s sales and marketing strategies, and acting as the show’s liaison for its advocacy and industry relations efforts.
Elysa Walk joined Giant in 2004 as head of Human Resources. She was named executive director in early 2006 and was promoted to general manager in October 2006. In this role, she directs day-to-day operations at Giant USA, overseeing administration, sales, marketing, and finance for the company.
Also at the meeting, the board of directors re-elected officers Kozo Shimano of Shimano American as president, Steve Meineke of Raleigh as vice president, and Chris Fortune of Saris Cycling Group as treasurer for one-year terms. All three have served in these roles for the past two years.
Bikes Belong is the U.S. industry group dedicated to putting more people on bicycles more often. This has been a landmark year for the nine-year-old coalition. In 2007, Bikes Belong awarded more than $500,000 in grants and bicycle organization support, developed a nationwide ad campaign, launched a new website, and formed a significant new partnership with Interbike. The related Bikes Belong Foundation awarded its first safety grants, hosted the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, and created a Bicycle Friendly Community grant program with support from REI.
